Sunset/Sunrise

These are my favorite sunrise and sunset pictures. The top picture was taken in Grand Tetons National Park, the second picture was taken just outside Glacier National Park in a tiny town called Polebridge. The issue I have with this assignment is that I love taking sunset and sunrise pictures, and I believe they can be visually exciting work. What is so Wrong! about liking sunset pics?? It isn't called the "Magic Hour" for nothing.

  1. Sorry about the weird cropping on that first picture. Still haven't figured out this blogger editing.

  2. Actually I've heard it called the "golden hour" before but "magic hour" could be interchangeable I suppose. But more to the point is that "hour" is so special for its light that is cast with the nice golden hue and long shadows which work amazing for creating drama. I personally love shooting portraits during this time and get great rim lighting during the last few hours before the sun sets.

Great shots BTW. I love the top image.
